Mercy for Children is dedicated to providing hope, love, and mercy to the displaced and vulnerable children of Uganda- who are reduced to crushing stones in the Kyoora Quarries to earn money to feed themselves and their families- through transformational education and general welfare support.

The non-profit was started by Doug Miller to aid the children of the Kiyoora stone quarries in Southwestern Uganda. In 2019, Doug traveled to Uganda and met Twikyirize Mercy Asnath (Mercy), who had established a ministry for young women. In 2020, Mercy discovered the dire conditions in the Kiyoora stone quarries, where children as young as three years old were laboring for $.13 per day in pay. Since then, ongoing efforts have supported up to 40 vulnerable children with food, shelter, and education. Doug's vision expanded to establish Mercy for Children, aiming to provide schooling and meals for 100 children initially, with long-term plans for housing, healthcare, and scholarships.

Support for this cause is appreciated.

Help build lives of meaning

Every donation allows Mercy for Children to provide food, clothing and educational support that will allow the children to get out of the quarries and create lives of meaning and purpose.

Your gift of $250 will provide meals (two meals per day, seven days a week), childcare and clothing for one child for one year.

Your gift of $150 will provide primary public school registration fees, school meals, education materials, uniforms, backpacks and school supplies for one child for one year.

A gift of $100 will provide clean water for all of the children at the Shelter of Hope for one month.

A Mission of ACTION

Twikyirize Mercy Asnath (Mercy) is the 9th of 10 siblings born in Southwestern Uganda. She had lost both her parents by the age of 13.

Because of her suffering as a child and the impact the kindness of others had on her, Mercy has dedicated her life to taking the action necessary to help other children.

She is the founder of Haddassah Girls Empowerment Project, providing vocational training and wisdom to hundreds of girls in Kampala, Uganda and Haddassah Child Care Ministry in Kabale, Uganda.
