About Us
Doug Miller | Founder
In 2019 I traveled to Uganda on a mission trip with my church to visit Marissa’s house – a home for orphaned and abandoned children. During the trip, I was blessed to meet a woman named Twikyirize Mercy Asnath (Mercy), who had founded a ministry to assist young women by teaching them vocational and life skills. Mercy is an amazing, caring woman who never sees a need she cannot meet. In 2020, Mercy discovered the Kiyoora stone quarries in western Uganda where children as young as 3 years old are working with the hope of getting a cup of porridge as pay. The living conditions for the children is heartbreaking.
Since returning from Uganda, I have maintained contact with Mercy and have been able to support, along with many friends, her continuing efforts to provide food, shelter and education funding for these vulnerable children. This past December, I was raising funds for a Christmas party when I felt God’s clear direction to do more.
That direction became my vision.
I would greatly appreciate your prayers and support as we bring this ministry to life… to love and support the children of the Kiyoora quarries. Our initial plan is to raise funds for meals, teachers and a school for up to 100 children. More details to come.
Mercy for Children is dedicated to providing hope, love and mercy to the vulnerable children of Uganda through transformational education and general welfare support.
